I’ve been Ellis Paul's friend and manager since 1992 and his music, words and friendship are jewels in my life. Upon examining the state of the music industry, Ellis and I have realized that far and away the most important connections that we have are not at all on the business side of the equation – it’s the people that love Ellis’ music. They’re more important than the biggest retailer or the most powerful radio station - so we’re starting a campaign to empower the people. Ellis’ new album “The Day After Everything Changed” was completely funded by his fans and is one of the finest he’s ever recorded. Many of Ellis' fans and folks passionate about great songwriting don’t even know that it’s been released. So if you’d like to help support a truly independent artist – here’s how. The lead single track on TDAEC is “Annalee”, and if you go to www.ellispaul.com/free you can download “Annalee” for free. Unlike so many other free song offers – you don’t have to give us your email, sign up or register for anything at all. It’s free for the taking. The small favor we would ask? Please share it with any and all of your friends that would enjoy Ellis’ music. This would help our efforts and help spread the music. This truly is a campaign about the power of the people in the support of independent music and artists.

Please stay in touch.

And thank you.

Ralph Jaccodine, ManagerUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05643353019757641555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26703853.post-64939175587022474842009-06-10T15:20:04.131-05:002009-06-10T15:20:04.131-05:00I think it turned out really well. Many famous blues musicians liked and even played old-time. Many early old-timers cut a few blues sides. The early record companies, though, generally recorded and sold based on race. Those English youths worked hard to seek out old blues records. Turning toward what their heroes also liked makes sense. The evolution of my own tastes followed that pattern.Michael M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08814271222082824664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26703853.post-1371637605114733882009-04-14T17:38:00.000-05:002009-04-14T17:38:00.000-05:00Yeah, but I wouldn't necessarily consider that a m...Yeah, but I wouldn't necessarily consider that a mark of quality. I really miss playing with you guys. You've made me feel welcome and have done a lot to help me improve my playing. It's my experience the best jamming occurs between midnight and 2 a.m. I guess all the faint-hearted leave by then and those who are left are real warmed up, real committed, or real drunk. For whatever reason, it makes for the most inspired playing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26703853.post-26671307015866015322009-01-12T00:14:00.000-06:002009-01-12T00:14:00.000-06:00I feel the same way. When people ask me how I'm doing, I tell them that my routine is pretty much always the same and a little tiring, but that it's a 'routine' of almost constant music and dancing with people I like. The line from Thurber, "I can't tell whether you're boasting or complaining" often fits the kind of reaction I get (hint: I'm not complaining). There's no question that the Folk School has been instrumental (insert groan here) in the musical side of that.

I have to put in a word for the local contra dancing community: the dancers at Childgrove are a mighty welcoming lot, too. The music and dancing scenes are synergistic for me: it seems the more I invest in enjoying one, the more I naturally enjoy the other as well. Someday, I'll figure out a way to play for a dance and dance it as the same time.

You've been a major mover in the happiness I have these days, and I don't often stop to say thanks. Twain spoke extensively on the lecture circuit in his day and was quick with a funny remark. He also wrote for newspaper columns.
